The young women in tech focuses on bringing women specifically into tech as a way of increasing digital literacy rates in women. Its main aim is to provide women with job-ready skills in STEM-centered industries (marketing, engineering, IT, cyber security, Fintech, project management, etc). As part of the initiative, Slamm Foundation collaborated the Star Women Foundation to train 50 young female graduates in different I.T courses. The STAR Alternative Access Program is an alternative skills development model designed to help recent and post-high school female graduates from low-income families, who will otherwise be unable to further their education and start careers, to become employable and entrepreneurial by taking a combination of online and in-person courses that offer lessons on essential leadership, digital and entrepreneurial skills, ensure apprenticeship placements and provide strong mentoring support to make them work and industry ready
As the world progresses, it is essential that women and girls have the opportunity to pursue careers in STEM fields. Despite the numerous advantages that these disciplines offer, women and girls continue to be underrepresented in these fields. There are many reasons why women and girls don’t pursue careers in STEM. For one, they often don’t have the same access to education and resources as their male counterparts. Additionally, the culture surrounding STEM can be off-putting to women and girls, who may feel like they don’t belong in these male-dominated fields.
Fortunately, there are organizations and programs working to change this. These initiatives provide women and girls with the education, resources, and support they need to succeed in STEM. As a result, more women and girls are pursuing careers in these disciplines, making them an integral part of the future of science and technology. If you’re interested in supporting women and girls in STEM, there are many ways you can get involved. You can donate to organizations that provide resources and education for women and girls in STEM. You can also volunteer your time to mentor or tutor young women and girls who are interested in these fields. Finally, you can spread the word about the importance of women and girls in STEM and encourage others to support these initiatives.
By working together, we can ensure that women and girls could pursue careers in STEM fields. This is essential for the future of science and technology, and it’s something we can all support
